The Margrét Björgólfsdóttir Memorial Fund gives 20 million ISK to The MS-Society of Iceland | | |
The center plays an important role for Icelandic Persons with MS (PwMS) and serves over 70 people each week. The new wing will give the MS-Society the opportunity to give even better service to PwMS, both medical and social.
Sigurbjörg Ármannsdóttir, chairman of The MS-Society, and Þóra Hallgrímsson, Margrét Björgólfsdóttirs mother, signed a contract .
This gift enables the MS-Society of Iceland to build the new
wing much sooner than otherwise planned. The wing will be 179 sqm and is expected to cost around 45 million ISK (512.000 EUR).
The Margrét Björgólfsdóttir Memorial Fund was founded two years ago by Þóra Hallgrímsson and Björgólfur Guðmundsson in memory of their daughter Margrét, who died 17 years ago. Since founded the fund has given out 260 million ISK (3 million EUR) to various projects.
